Count the physical connections first
List WAN links, internal switches, isolated networks and any dedicated management or auxiliary connections. Port count is a hardware property; the number of supported users or sessions is a separate performance question.
Consider VLANs and switching
VLANs can carry multiple logical networks over a compatible trunk connection. Check your switch, software configuration and throughput requirements. Extra physical ports can simplify some layouts, but their value depends on your design.
Compare the entire platform
Check controller model, interface speed, CPU, storage, cooling and available expansion. Use a sample to validate your software and workload.
Compare model specifications or share your network requirements.
